My name is Katie and I set up Canine Playtime in 2011. After an unhappy career in nursing I saw a gap in the market and decided to take a chance and set up Canine Playtime and I’ve never looked back. I’ve been working with animals for a number of years now and hold a variety of certificates. I am a volunteer for different rescue centres, I help with home checks, transport and I have been approved for fostering dogs with several rescues. I'm currently studying towards a Diploma in Complete Canine Care. I hold a Canine first aid certificate and have attended an animal behaviour workshop. I have 4 dogs of my own, Diesel a Labrador, Harry a Collie X Labrador, Juno WSD and Kody, also a WSD.
Due to ill health Diesel isn't as active as he used to be, he now enjoys his walks in the woods, swimming, eating and long naps in the sun. Harry is on a flyball team and is doing very well. He's been racing for a number of years now and thoroughly enjoys himself, it's one of the only time we see him put any effort in to anything, he's a bit of a lazy boy. Juno is new to flyball and is taking her time building her confidence in the sport, she's showing great potential. Being the sensitive little girl she is we take things slowly with her and make sure she's having fun. Kody has been a work in progress for me and I'm so proud of the dog he's turned into today. He too can be very sensitive towards new people and new environments. He's started agility and loves it, the only thing holding him back is me! I'm just too slow for him.
